Tianhou Temple, Heping Island

Tianhou Temple, Heping Island

Tianhou Temple, dating back to the Ming Dynasty, was the earliest Mazu temple in Keelung and is the oldest Mazu temple in northern Taiwan. The temple has a plaque with the characters of "Sea Waves Don't Raise" that can be traced back to the Ming dynasty, so it is estimated that the temple is over 300 years.

The permanent exhibits of Chupu Altar include cultural artifacts related to the traditional rituals and related activities, and the ceremony highlights and histories are brought to life via multimedia presentations. There is also a special exhibits area with wide-ranging themes.

Fairy Cave

Fairy Cave

This is the largest sea-eroded cave in the Keelung area. It is said that a celestial being practiced Buddhism and found the way in this cave. It is about 25 meters deep and divided into two caves, one on the right which is spacious and one on the left only wide enough for one person to pass through. The large cave has a temple dating back to the Qing Dynasty that ebshrines Guanyin and the three Precious Buddhas. There are numerous carvings of Buddha on the walls and also traces of calligraphy from the Qing Dynasty.

Keelung Harbor Memorial

The memorial was built to commemorate the sacrifice of the many workers who died building Keelung Harbor during the Japanese Colonial Period. It is also a great place to view Keelung Harbor.

Dianji Temple

Dianji Temple

Dianji Temple is renowned for its location at the center of Miaokou Eateries. It commemorates the early pioneer ancestors. Established during the Tungchih Regime of Ching Dynasty, Dianji Temple mainly worships Kaichang Holy King and earns great popularity from visitors. On the way to feast on the gourmet at Miaokou eateries, visitors may come to appreciate its sculpture and unique architectural illustration.
