Chenghuang Temple is located on Zhon Yi Road of Ren Ai District, whose door faces the Keelung Harbor. According to the legend, Chenghuang was the seventh official of Keelung during the Ching Dynasty. Because he was kind and honest and concerned about the masses, he has been worshiped after he passed away. The designing feature of the Chenghuang Temple is like a “工” shape resembles a Chinese word. The architecture of the Chenghuang Temple is undulate and contrastive of light and shade. Besides, a big abacus hanging on the wall is used to alert people. The biggest activity of Chenghuang attracts the public to come over. After closing the ghost door in July of the lunar calendar, the different City Gods would be taken on boats to go around Keelung Harbor on August 14. On August 16, there are daily stumping tour activities. According to traditional belief, Chenghuang needed to lead other gods to go around the city area because some ghosts were not willing to go back to hell after closing the ghost door. The annual Keelung Chenghuang Culture Festival Activity of City God Temple always holds series of related activities. Therefore, it's quite popular in the whole Keelung.
