The origin of the Keelung Qidu Fireworks Festival is that residents on both sides of the Keelung River used torches to be tied to the two banks of the Keelung River during the Lantern Festival and fired to the opposite bank. The competitive traditional event was expanded to be the current Fireworks Festival, and it has also become one of the activities of the Keelung Lantern Festival. In order to expand the festival activities, it was moved to the Yongan Comprehensive Park near the Qixian Bridge, and fireworks were set off on the water defense trail of the Junde Suspension Bridge opposite the Qixian Bridge to provide the citizen with a better view of the fireworks. In addition, you should not miss visiting the historic building "Qidu Train Station" in Qidu Station Railway Park. It is a wooden station/Japanese-style building that still preserves in the north of Taipei. There will be a railway cultural relic exhibition during the event. Qingji Temple, the earliest Matsu temple in Qidu, also held a Lantern Festival blessing party on the date of the fireworks festival.
