Tianhou Temple is located at Heping Island. It is said to be Keelung's earliest Mazu temple and also the earliest in northern Taiwan. It has been given a name “Greater Keelung Harbor Tianhou Temple”. It has a plaque with the characters "Sea Waves Don't Raise" that can be traced back to the Ming dynasty because Mazu had predicted a tsunami previously and saved the residents. Therefore, it is estimated that the temple is over 300 years. Besides, the temple worships Mazu and the deities Shueisianzun and Fude Jhengshen. It is the main spiritual center of Heping Island. The carvings in the halls were mostly done by famous craftsmen and are well worth a look.
