In 1896, the “Keelung Fort Command Center” was established by the Japanese army. In 1903, the “Keelung Fort Command Headquarters” was established. Its command covered the areas of Keelung, Aodi, Jinshan, Tamsui, Hsinchu, Houlong, etc. Keelung Fort Command Headquarters was the highest command center in northern Taiwan during the Japanese rule.
